Good day friends.
Our hearts and minds are with our friends in the Carolinas, and any of the areas affected by Florence. Hoping you and your families are safe and away from harm. If there is anything we can do to help, please let us know.
Another tough week for coffee. It just doesn’t seem to be able to get up and get moving at this point. Funds continue large and in charge the open interest in Dec alone is an amazing 178025 lots as I write this, with another 74789 in March. This continues to provide producers little incentive to bring their coffees to market, or to market them aggressively. Differentials for most common coffees are not moving or when they do, move away from buyer’s intentions. Difficulties shipping in both Brazil and Colombia continue to be reported, we can confirm we’ve had our share of troubles in both places.
We read an interesting article in the “Daily Coffee News” we’d like to refer you to. It’s at: https://dailycoffeenews.com/2018/09/13/the-scandal-of-the-c-price/. Some food for thought in that article.
We took on some nice Colombians last week, available to sample now. Reminder we still have some great Tarrazu “La Pastora”, along with some lovely Antigua and Yirgacheffe, and we’re down to half a box of Mandheling, we won’t ship the replacement until the new crop comes.
All the best
Joe and John
